But during a desperate raid on the Cybernetic Consortium, his luck runs out.
He doesn’t wake in a prison cell. He wakes in an augmentation chamber.
Stripped of his identity, he’s forced into a neural upgrade—an invasive mind-link that chains prisoners to the Consortium’s network.
His sentence: Exile. Jesse is shipped to Mars as a slave laborer for the Upgraded elite.
But the Consortium made a fatal calculation. They didn't just give a weapon to a slave; they gave access to a warrior. And inside the network… he discovers a ghost in the code. A presence calling from the shadows.
To break free, he must commit the ultimate betrayal of his beliefs: Embrace the very technology he was raised to fear.
Freedom has a price.
And for Jesse, the price is becoming what he fears most.

I'm Avid Azar-a sci-fi storyteller, world-builder, and architect of the New Birth Era.
When most people walk through a city, they see streets, buildings, and lights.
When I walk through a city, I see something else- skyscrapers that don't exist yet, ruins from wars that haven't happened, skies lit by machines we haven't built.

I fell in love with sci-fi as a kid, starting with the movie I, Robot, and grew up devouring sci-fi books and films. My mind refuses to stay in the present. This is me. A mind wandering between worlds.
